solving system issues The Windows "Action Center" consolidates message traffic from key Windows maintenance and security features, including Windows Defender and User Account Control. If Windows requires your attention, the Action Center icon appears in the taskbar - see Fig 1.0 This means NO MORE annoying balloons appearing in the bottom right hand side of the screen. Instead we have the Action Center icon, a small white flag, which is a one click (or touch) access to system security/maintenance issues that require your attention. The white flag will display a RED cross if action is required - see Fig 1.0
Fig 1.0 - Action Center Taskbar Icon (Attention Required) If you click the icon a small window will appear outlining the issues requiring attention- see Fig 1.1
Fig 1.1 - The Action Center Pop Up Menu
Options: You can now either click on each item for action OR click on the Open Action Center link and the main Action Center Control Panel will open - See Fig 1.2
Fig 1.2 - Action Center Control Panel with a few messages queued up [+] Click here for larger image A RED band means critical action and a YELLOW band means attention is required soon. The Action Center messages are split into TWO areas:
Security Messages - Windows Update - Internet Security Settings - Network Firewall - Spyware & Related Protection - User Account Control
Maintenance Messages - Windows Backup - Windows Troubleshooting - Check For Updates
It is not only Microsoft messages that appear here, it is
also messages from 3rd party security products too. In a nutshell, Action Center is a central location for dealing with
messages about your system and the starting point for diagnosing and
solving issues with your system. You can think of Action Center as a
message queue displaying the items that need your attention that you
can manage on your schedule.
